History Since moving to Meadville in 1988, Gretchen Myers has nurtured the vision of bringing a dynamic dance education program to the area. With years of professional ballet and modern experience plus extensive training in tap and jazz, Gretchen grew the dance department at the Meadville Council on the Arts from 30 to over 200 well trained dancers. A huge part of this success was due to the several talented and well trained dance teachers she asked to join on staff. In the "preparation meets opportunity" year of 2000, Gretchen founded Allegro Dance Arts to further her vision for dance in Crawford County. Her staff of teachers hopped on board and the school continues to grow in success. The Allegro Dance Art's mission is "...to provide excellence in dance education so that students of all ages can master the skills, experience the joy, and acquire the knowledge necessary for a lifelong appreciation of the art of dance." Allegro is proud of the accomplishments of its dancers. Many have gone on to dance, teach, choreograph and direct both in college and professionally. Many have gone on to successful careers in other areas. Either way, many stay in touch with their dance family, the staff, to let them know the integral part Allegro played in their personal success. |
